Have you Been to NAMM? Know the risk of loud noise exposure

Yes I know it has been a few weeks since my last blog post.  I’ve been busy doing audiology stuff so no worries.

Each year in January musicians, business owners, and others flock to Anaheim, California for the annual NAMM Show (National Association of Music Merchants).  It is a four-day trade show that encompasses all things music.  For many this is an annual trip to see what is the newest in the music world.  As my 5th year going with Sensaphonics, it is more like seeing old friends and making new ones instead of just “working”.  During this course of four days, fellow audiologist Heather Malyuk, AuDLisa Tannenbaum, MS, and myself educate musicians, business owners, avid listeners, and others about the risk of loud noise exposure and the risk of hearing loss.  We also take hundreds of earmold impressions so that people are able to purchase products designed to protect people’s hearing.  Sensaphonics isn’t the only Chicago based company to attend NAMM either.  Several other businesses go as well including Shure and Gepco.

Yes we do like to have fun as well. Heather, Joe, and I before a night out.

So yes as I was enjoying 70 degree weather in Southern California, I was also busy working.  It never gets old informing others of hearing loss prevention!  As I told NAMM attendees, it is never too late to do something to protect hearing.  As always the first step in prevention or doing something about hearing loss is getting a hearing test.
